Daimler Truck and Torc Robotics have increased their collaboration in the development of SAE Level 4 autonomous trucks with a trail on public roads in Virginia, New Mexico and Texas.
The partnership which has been ongoing since spring 2019 has seen the next generation of test trucks incorporate more sensors at higher resolutions to enhance object detection at longer ranges.
Daimler Truck and Torc began their initial public road testing on highways in September in southwest Virginia, where Torc is based. Additional closed-track road testing has also been conducted in Madras, Oregon, at Daimler Trucks North America’s High Desert Proving Grounds.
