Scania has added a new 6x2 LNG tractor unit to its gas-fuelled truck range, increasing its offering to cover both two and three axle versions of compressed and liquid natural gas vehicles.
"The addition of a six-wheel LNG tractor unit to our gas vehicle range is an exciting step forward as it opens up new opportunities for biogas-fuelled long distance haulage," said Vincente Connolly, UK sales director for Scania (GB).
"The vehicle features two LNG tanks; 187-litres/73 kg on the offside and 313-litres/122 kg on the nearside. While the actual range will be dependent upon a variety of operational factors, our trials have shown that distances of in excess of 400 miles are achievable."
Rigids can be had with either LNG or CNG engines in two-, three- and four-axle configurations, with tractor unit options being two-axles for CNG and two- or three-axles for LNG variants.
Scania’s gas engine range includes a 9.3-litre, 5-cyllinder unit available with nominal horsepower ratings of 280hp and 340hp, as well as a 12.7-litre, 6-cylinder option with 410hp.
