Body Paragraphs:

UK heavy truck registrations declined again in April despite an EU-wide bounce that saw registrations climb 11.7% overall year-on-year.

April’s registration figures from the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) record a 19% decline in UK truck registrations of 16 tonnes and over, from 3,486 in the same period of 2017 to 2,822.

As a consequence, the UK market remains 8.2% behind 2017 as of the first four months of the year.

By way of comparison, Germany’s 6,356 registrations were up 18.3% year-on-year, and France saw a 9% increase to 4,002 registrations.

27,189 trucks of 16 tonnes and over were registered in the EU in April (2017: 24,347).

Both ACEA and the SMMT reported a decline in UK truck registrations during the first quarter of 2018.
